Featured Stockist – Alresford Linen
This month’s stockist spotlight is the cute little market town of Alresford.
Amid the pastel-painted Georgian townhouses, you can find ALSO Home stockist, Alresford Linen Co – a hybrid lifestyle shop / dry cleaners! Yes, you read that right.
Having the best shop front in Alresford, owners Melita and Stephen took over the dry-cleaners in 2009 and gave it a unique twist – creating a shop filled with design-led homewares and stylish gifts, with the laundry services operating behind the scenes.
Alresford itself is famed for its watercress farms and the annual celebration honouring the popular plant. It also happens to have the best Christmas Santa experience in the area, with a festive steam train ride on the watercress line.
If you’re not already sold on visiting this leafy Hampshire town, read what the team at Alresford Linen Co recommend for your visit…
Best place for lunch:
For us the best place to head for lunch is definitely Pulpo Negro. It’s just over the road from us and they serve up the most delicious tapas (and also a mean G&T!) in their small but vibey restaurant. The patatas bravas are a must have, and if you’ve got a sweet tooth definitely try the creme catalana.
Best place for coffee:
Our day always starts with coffee! When we’re in need of a quick caffeine hit, we wander two doors up to Caracoli to get our fix. It’s a great place to meet with friends for a catch up and before wandering around the town.
Best walk nearby:
Alresford itself is a pretty little Georgian town made up of lots of cute candy coloured houses. We’re surrounded by beautiful scenery, watercress beds and country walks. A particular favourite is the walk along the River Arle and past the Fulling Mill.
Favourite ALSO Home piece:
Simple and fresh. You just can’t beat crisp white bedding and we love the subtlety of the ruffle bedding & Olivia cushions. They add a soft and feminine touch to classic linen and when layered up with some velvet cushions, we’re pretty sure they’ll guarantee some sweet dreams!
Alresford Hidden Gem.
If you’re looking for somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the town, just a stone’s throw away is the really peaceful memorial garden. Wander along with a takeaway coffee, a good book & relax whilst listening to the river flow past you. It’s the perfect place to sit on a warm and sunshine filled day.
