Featured Stockist – Lillian Daph Store, Yorkshire

Next up on our featured stockist spotlight we are in Yorkshire (Saltburn-by-the-sea to be specific) getting the local lowdown from our friends at Lillian Daph.

Inspired by her time studying textiles and high-end design, Lillian Daph founder Christina decided it was time that her beloved home town explored the world of artisan makers. Setting up shop in Saltburn (in an old Post Office) was a natural step after graduating, and Lillian Daph has since become a destination for customers seeking a great shopping experience, with stock being curated from small suppliers and artisan makers all around the world.

What’s the best place for brunch?
Mannion and Co. York. There are no other words to describe this place but simply amazing. It’s simple food done amazingly well. From breakfast to grazing boards and gigantic sausage rolls, this place is a little gem.

Best place for coffee?
Baltzersens cafe in Harrogate. Their words ‘Yorkshire sourced – Skandi inspired.’, a concept derived from his Skandinavian Grandmother, the owner has created a laid back vibe to enjoy their single original coffee (with an authentic home baked pastry on the side of course!)

What’s the best view on this part of the coast?
I’d say we never tire of looking over Saltburn’s towards Huntcliff – it changes every day and always has something new to give. Having said that we drove to Wensleydale near Layburn recently and the view of the rolling Yorkshire hills there (granted they were covered in snow) took my breath away.

Best candle lit dinner hot spot?
A romantic dinner for us has to be had in a proper Italian, and Cena Trattoria in Yarm hits the spot with a punch. From home made pasta to fish and of course perfect red wine, their menu is ever changing. The atmosphere in this is always subdued and welcoming, yet remains to make you feel like you’ve had a touch of class. Be sure to try their basil pesto with Homemade Foccacia- I always eat too much!

Best Supper Spot?
I’m partial to a Sunday roast especially after a Sunday in Store, and the guys at The Curing House in Middlesbrough take some beating. They make EVERYTHING themselves, from curing their own meat to baking their own bread and the rest.

What’s your favourite ALSO Home piece in the shop?
As we’re moving (slowly) into spring and just received our first drop, the new Ivory Karlek cushion has to be our current fave. Its so delicate and fresh, a proper timeless classic.

Any hidden gems in the local area we need to know about?
‘The Sitting Room’  in our Yorkshire hometown is an absolute gem, serving bespoke speciality cocktails and now grazing boards too, we really have no excuse to leave.

Snow Home‘ in York is one of the quirkiest little shops, expect to find humorous cards and one of a kind gifts.

‘Camfields Espresso Bar’ is right on our very own Saltburn and perfectly by the sea, serving up the best illy coffee – this place is our Sunday morning go-to.

Betsy and Bo‘ Sweetshop in Staithes –  every child and big kids dream. This is a traditional sweetshop with a big twist. From their own handmade chocolates, to their newly added general store, every inch is a treat for the senses!
