We sat down with Elle for a little Q&A to share with you, sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy.
Describe your style in 4 words.
Relaxed, country, scandi, light.
Which is your favourite time of the year for home style?
Spring as I love styling with spring blooms and the house always looks best when the days are getting longer and the light starts to creep in again.
How would you spend an 8th day of the week?
I’d definitely spend an extra day with my husband and our pug Boris just at home or in the garden. We love gardening, going for long walks and just pottering around in the house, it’s been a real comfort for us the last year or so. My husband works hugely long hours and I don’t see him during the week, so an extra weekend day of doing what we love would be just perfect.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
Instagram because I find it both positive and inspiring. A great place that women can come together and share their passions in life, and a place that is seldom interrupted by politics and religion as other social media platforms tend to be.
What inspired you to start Feathering The Empty Nest?
After we lost our son, Teddy, at just three days old on 19th May 2016 I began using our home as a way to help me heal. My passion and dedication to feathering our nest went into overdrive and I quickly realised I was using my creativity to busy my mind and help with grieving for him. I began the
blog eight months later in January 2017 and have since been lucky enough to write for brilliant writing platforms such as Rock My Style and
Rock My Family. I wanted to show people who are experiencing any challenges in life that sometimes you only have to look around you to see the things that can save you the most.
Which is your favourite room in your home?
Definitely our sitting room. It’s the only room in the house I would consider to be “finished”. It’s light and bright, and yet I find it cosy and warm in equal measure.
Which is your favourite piece of furniture?
Our dining table. It’s made of reclaimed oak boards and was made by my husband as a special one-off piece for our home. He’s not a carpenter, but has a passion for creating things for our home just as I do.
We are huge supporters of the work Elle is doing for the
