How to Spring Clean Your Homelife
How To Spring Clean Your Homelife
Spring has most definitely sprung. British Summertime has officially kicked in and with the wonderful weather we’ve had these last few days it’s got us feeling motivated. Spring makes us feel good doesn’t it? Baby Lambs, Daffodils and Tulips, Easter Eggs and Sunsets that can be enjoyed after work – what’s not to love.
Spring is also the time when everyone has a good clean up, a good clear out. It’s time to get the house prepped for a Summer of BBQS and lazy afternoons in the garden. But this year we’re thinking about how we can spring clean our own happiness as well as our homes. This is the stuff that’s really good for the soul.
Clear Out Your Schedule
Find an afternoon where you can sit for a few hours without distraction and look at what you have planned over the next few months. Where have you overbooked yourself? Where is there a whole weekend free for gardening and catching up with friends? It’s time to give your schedule a clean-up and make sure you’re not burning the candle!
Why not write a list of everything you want to do this Spring/Summer and keep a journal too, perhaps using one of our gorgeous handmade linen notebooks!
Digital Detoxing
This is guaranteed to inject some happiness into your home! When it’s cold outside or it’s pouring with rain we all fall slave to the iPad, iPhone, refreshing social media…you know what I’m talking about. So while the sun is here to stay, put your phone away. Have a detox from digital during BBQs, weekends and when you’re out enjoying the garden.
Go a step further and keep something near your front door for guests to put their devices in. I’ve been using this bistro caddy for tech-free afternoons with my family.
Home-Grown and Naturally Delicious
Whether you’ve got your own vegetable patch or a small terrace, there’s no excuse. You’ll find something you can grow including runner beans and courgettes.
Growing your own vegetables is fun; not to mention the satisfaction you’ll feel when you serve up a Caprese Salad using homegrown Tomatoes and Basil. Dish up your salad in a summer-ready bowl, like our wide stripe bowl, handpainted in Vietnam. Eating that’s good for the spirit and the body!
Out With The Old
You’ve spent all winter covered up in layers, cosy knit throws and warming your toes by the fire; but now it’s out with the old and in with the new. Rotate your cushions, throws and table linen for something a little brighter and a little bolder. We adore limes, yellows and corals for Spring/Summer.
How do you fancy an afternoon sipping ice cold lemonade, reading a book on a cotton, waffle throw?
Mindful Movements
Everyone needs a little bit of sunshine and when we are constantly on the go it can seem impossible to even fit a dog walk in where we aren’t distracted by the time, deadlines, emails and that to-do list. But once a week, take yourself off and totally immerse yourself in the countryside. No distractions. Just the fresh air and a little bit of mindful movement. You’ll feel refreshed and revitalised!
Stay out for the afternoon and pack a bag with a good book, a snack and some suncream!
