I recently made the tough decision to stop my brand ALSO Home. Since starting ALSO Home 16 years ago it has been ever evolving into the well-known and loved homewares brand it is today. Now the time has come to embrace that process of change to transition into a new chapter for me.

The hardest decisions often lead to exciting opportunities (I hope!) and after navigating a tough few years, it has become necessary for me to choose a more balanced life and so I have taken the difficult decision to close the ALSO Home brand in order to move on to the next season of my life and hopefully have a very much needed rest.

Moving forward for now, I will be focusing on my strengths in design, sourcing, product development and brand creation through the private label side of my business, which I have always done alongside my beautiful brands.

As I am sure you can imagine, this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life. I’ve felt quite disillusioned for a while now and I had lost my creative edge and vision as a result of the many things that have been thrown at us over the last few years. I started ALSO Home during the 2008 recession and housing market crash, have had Brexit, Covid and now a cost of living crisis throw into the mix as well.

In the end, I got close to burnt out and couldn’t find the joy any more in creating my beautiful range of homewares as I juggled running the business, growing and developing two brands and carrying the weight of it all on my shoulders.

Despite having a wonderful team over the years, I have carried the stress of the business on my own. It’s a lonely and exhausting place and it has felt very heavy at times. The growing unhappiness inside me was getting louder and louder and for my own health and well being, I couldn’t ignore it any more. After 16 years, I was exhausted, feeling low in self esteem and confidence and desperately needing a break.

I’ve been going through the process of changing the business, saying goodbye to staff and simplifying the structure. And so it is time now for these changes to fully come into effect and to say goodbye to ALSO Home.

I want to say thank you to you all for following us on Social Media, shopping with us and supporting us. Thank you to all our wonderful stockists and customers who have championed and loved the brand. Here’s to creating space to find what’s next and what’s new for me.
